What size solar system do I need?
Most Sydney homes suit 6.6 to 10 kW. The right size comes from your quarterly bill, how much you use at night, and how much usable roof faces north, east or west. We size it from your actual bill, not a rule of thumb.
Is solar still worth it in NSW in 2026?
For most homes that are home during the day or plan to add a battery, yes. Feed-in tariffs are lower than they used to be, so the value now comes from using your own solar rather than selling it. That is why most people now pair solar with a battery.

Is 6.6 kW enough to run a house?

For a lot of Sydney homes, yes during the day. If you use more power at night, have a pool or an EV, or plan to add a battery, 10 kW or more usually pays off better.
Do solar panels work on cloudy days?

Yes, at reduced output. Panels still generate in cloud, just less. Sydney's yearly sunshine is what the system is sized on, not a single day.
